Overview
Site Preparation with Precision
Nothing built on a poorly prepared pad stays level for long. At Urbon Sheds, we handle excavation in the Tweed Valley as the first stage of a shed build, and as a standalone service for builders, developers and property owners. We clear vegetation and topsoil, cut and fill to bring the site to grade, trench for services and stormwater, and compact the pad ready for concrete. On sloping blocks that often means retaining or batters, which we work out before the machine arrives rather than halfway through the job. The concrete slab that follows is only as good as what's underneath it. Call 0402 550 311 to arrange a site visit.
Frequently Asked Questions
Lay the Groundwork for a Successful Build
Site preparation covers more than scraping the ground flat.
Clearing. Vegetation, stumps and topsoil come off first, because organic material under a slab will settle and crack it.
Cut and fill. Sloping sites are brought to a single level, with any fill placed and compacted in layers rather than pushed in one go.
Trenching. Water, power, drainage and stormwater lines go in before the pad is finished, so nothing has to be cut into the slab afterwards.
Compaction. The pad is compacted to give the slab uniform support, which is what stops differential settlement later.
