Overview
From Slab to Finished Building
Steel arrives on a truck as a stack of purlins, columns and sheets, and how it goes together determines whether the building is still square in ten years. At Urbon Sheds, we handle shed building in the Tweed Valley from slab to finished structure, including kits supplied by someone else. Our crew set out and plumb the frame, brace it to the engineering, fix the cladding and hang the doors, then flash and seal the building so water goes where it should. We work to the certified drawings for the site's wind rating, and we clean up after ourselves. Where the ground isn't ready yet, our excavation and concrete crews go in first. Call 0402 550 311.
Frequently Asked Questions
How a Shed Comes Together
A build follows the same sequence whether it's a two-bay garage or a large rural workshop.
Set out and footings. Anchor positions are set from the drawings, because a frame that's out by even a little at the base is out by a lot at the roof.
Frame erection. Columns and rafters go up, get plumbed and are braced before any cladding is fixed.
Cladding and roofing. Wall sheets and roof sheeting are fixed with the correct fasteners and laps, which is what keeps the building watertight.
Doors, flashings and finishing. Roller doors, personnel access doors, gutters, downpipes and flashings complete the structure and seal the openings.
